Common questions
Is it safe to wear grillz, dentally speaking?
Grillz are designed to be worn occasionally, not around the clock. They're cast from your own mould so they fit without pressure points, and they're fully removable — take them out to eat, brush and sleep, and clean them the same way you'd clean a retainer.
Can I wear them on the Metro or out and about in Madrid?
Yes, that's exactly what they're made for — they're a removable accessory, not a dental treatment, so you can put them in and take them out as you like wherever you go.
Can I eat tapas or have dinner while wearing them?
We recommend taking them out to eat and drinking anything other than water with them in. Food debris under the piece is the main cause of staining and odour, so a quick rinse before putting them back in keeps both your teeth and the piece clean.
Can I travel with them through Barajas airport?
Yes. They're small metal jewellery items and go through security the same way a ring or a chain does — keep them in your hand luggage and take them out if asked, like any other metal accessory.
I'm only in Madrid for a short trip — can I still order?
It depends on the turnaround. Plain pieces take 5–10 working days and gold or stone-set pieces take 10–15, so a short trip usually isn't enough time for the mould appointment and the fitting in the same visit. Tell us your dates on the booking form and we'll be upfront about whether it fits.
Do you do home visits outside Madrid city?
Yes — home visits for the mould appointment are available anywhere in the Comunidad de Madrid, not just the city centre. Mention your location on the booking form and we'll confirm availability.
How do I pay, and in what currency?
All prices are quoted and paid in euros. A deposit is due before casting, with the balance settled at fitting; ask for an invoice when you book and we'll provide one.
Is the gold hallmarked?
Solid gold pieces are made to standard karat purities (9K, 14K, 18K) and can be hallmarked on request — ask when you book if you'd like this done.
What languages do you work in?
We work in Spanish and English, both on the booking form and by email, so you can write in whichever is more comfortable for you.
Does wearing grillz damage my teeth?
No drilling, filing or bonding is involved at any stage — the piece is cast separately from a mould and simply slides on and off your teeth. Keep it clean and don't sleep in it, and there's no lasting effect on your teeth.
Can I book without visiting in person first?
The first step is always the booking form — tell us what you have in mind and we'll reply with a spec, a quote range and an appointment slot (in Madrid or a home visit) by email, before anything is booked in.
What if the fit isn't right at the fitting appointment?
If anything needs more than a minor adjustment, we take the piece back for a correction rather than hand it over as-is. Because it's cast from your own mould, this is rare, but we'd rather get it right than rush the handover.
Can I design something custom that isn't on the styles page?
Yes — the styles page covers the most common requests, but bar links, engraving, mixed metals and custom shapes are all possible. Describe what you want on the booking form or on the customise page and we'll confirm what's realistic.
Do you keep my mould or personal details on file?
We keep what's needed to complete your order and to contact you about it. If you have questions about your data, email us at contact@grillzmadrid.com.
